The New York Rangers are set to kick off their first home game in the 2024-25 season at Madison Square Garden hosting the Utah Hockey Club for the first time in franchise history. 7pm on MSG Networks
New York enters the home opener with a strong track record at MSG, boasting a 3-1-1 record in their last five openers. This will mark the 37th different franchise the Rangers have faced throughout their storied history, including defunct teams like the Arizona Coyotes and Brooklyn Americans.
The Rangers have a history of success at home, finishing with a 30-11-0 record last season and tying the franchise record for most home wins (1970-71). Since the start of the 2022-23 season, they’ve been one of the league’s top home teams, ranking tied for third in home wins.
As the Rangers prepare for the new season, Alexis Lafreniere will reach a significant milestone, playing in his 300th career NHL game.
Outside of the ice, the franchise received a major honor as broadcaster Sam Rosen was named the recipient of the 2024 Lester Patrick Trophy for his outstanding contributions to hockey in the United States.
Igor Shesterkin likely between the pipes in this one.
