Rangers vs Hurricanes

  • The Blueshirts have now lost three in row – each game by at least three goals
  • Chris Kreider and Filip Chytil remain out of the lineup for the Rangers
  • Head coach Peter Laviolette told the media to expect small tweaks to the lines
  • Will Cuylle added two more goals to his tally on Monday and is now tied with Kreider for second on the team
  • Martin Necas is having a career year as he has 35 points in 21 games to lead the NHL. If after a quarter of a season, anyone guessed Necas would lead the league in points – you may want to buy a lottery ticket
  • Jack Roslovic was acquired by the Rangers at the trade deadline last year, but he never fully fit in and was more of a depth player. Roslovic signed with the Hurricanes in the offseason and he has 13 points already including twelve goals
  • The big news surrounding the Hurricanes is their injuries to both Frederik Andersen and Pyotr Kochetkov
  • Andersen is out for two-to-three months while Kochetkov is more day-to-day and could be available following Thanksgiving
  • Spencer Martin will start in goal for the Hurricanes. Martin is 2-2-0 with an .854 save percentage on the season
  • Carolina plays a very aggressive game and as a result – they allow the second fewest in the league. As a result, the Hurricanes shoot the puck from anywhere and they have the most shots on net per game. The Rangers have recently been allowing 40+ shots per game like it is going in style, and they haven’t had much sustained offensive zone time
  • Igor Shesterkin will be back in goal for the Blueshirts. Shesterkin is 8-6-1 with a .914 save percentage
