NEW YORK – Jonny Brodzinski netted his second goal of the night late in the third period, and Igor Shesterkin delivered a stellar 36-save performance as the New York Rangers secured a 5-3 victory over the Vancouver Canucks on Saturday, ending their three-game skid.

Brodzinski buried his ninth goal of the season past Canucks goaltender Kevin Lankinen at 15:47, just 37 seconds after Brock Boeser had tied the game for Vancouver. Former Canuck J.T. Miller sealed the win with an empty-net goal as the Rangers bounced back from home losses to Edmonton, Calgary, and Toronto earlier in the week.

K’Andre Miller and Adam Fox also found the back of the net for New York, while Alexis Lafrenière contributed two assists. On the other side, Dakota Joshua and Drew O’Connor tallied goals for Vancouver.

Joshua opened the scoring at 11:51 of the first period, stuffing a loose puck past Shesterkin. The Rangers were outplayed early, getting outshot 11-1 in the opening frame and hearing boos from the home crowd as they headed to intermission.

Vancouver continued to press in the second period, outshooting New York 13-5, but Fox managed to even the score at 11:03 with an assist from Brennan Othmann, marking the rookie’s first NHL point.

Brodzinski gave the Rangers their first lead at 1:39 of the third, but O’Connor responded for Vancouver at 11:22 to tie it again. K’Andre Miller quickly put New York back in front at 12:40, setting the stage for Brodzinski’s late heroics and Miller’s empty-net insurance goal.

With the win, the Rangers halt their recent slump and look to build momentum heading into their next matchup.
