Rangers vs Kraken

The Blueshirts will look to build momentum after a win against the Sharks. New York will head on the road for four-games as they travel to the pacific northwest. Last season the Rangers swept this road trip and won all four games. After playing the Kraken on Sunday night, they’ll play Vancouver, Calgary, and Edmonton before returning home.

Filip Chytil did not make the trip for New York as he left Thursay’s game with an injury. Chytil collided with teammate K’Andre Miller during Thursday night’s game against San Jose. Chytil and the Rangers will be hoping he avoided a concussion given his history of head trauma. The Czech center has been one of the Blueshirts best forwards to start the season and he has been very lively. Chytil is currently being evaluated for “an upper-body injury,” and could join the Rangers on the road-trip depending on results of the evaluation. Jake Leschyshyn was recalled from Hartford and will serve as the team’s extra forward.

Jonny Brodzinski is slated to start on the third-line in Chytil’s absence.

“I’m doing a lot more extra on the ice to stay ready,” Brodzinski said. “So that when I do come back into the lineup, it’s seamless. I’ve been ready this whole time. Transition should be very seamless.”

Will Cuylle or Jacob Trouba could join the second line power-play unit. With that, the Blueshirts will have no true center on the second unit and Kaapo Kakko could be asked to take faceoffs.

Leading the Kraken on offense is Jared McCann. McCann has 21 points in 18 games including an active five-game point streak. McCann’s career high in points was 70 points during his second season in Seattle during the 2022-2023 season. McCann is currently on pace to break his career high in points.

One of the Kraken’s new acquisitions is Brandon Montour who is currently tied for second in points on the team. The 30-year-old right handed defenseman was a key member of the Stanley Cup winning Panthers last season. Montour had eleven points during the Panthers run to the Stanley Cup and he averaged nearly 23 minutes a game during the playoffs. The Ontario native is averaging close to 24 minutes a game as a member of the Kraken.

Joey Daccord is officially the Kraken’s number one netminder as he has started in twelve of the Kraken’s 18 games. Daccord recorded 22 saves in a win on Saturday, which means that Phillip Grubauer will be slated to start the second half of the back-to-back against the Rangers. Grubauer is 1-5-0 with an .877 save percentage this season.

Jonathan Quick is slated to get the first start of the road trip for the Rangers. Quick has started just three games this season for New York. But the 38-year-old is 3-0-0 with a .964 save percentage and one shutout this season.

Bet of the Night

The Kraken have been poor in the second-half of back-to-back games this season. Adam Fox has been starting to heat up as he has points in four of the previous five games. At -142 odds, a $5 bet would pay $8.52 for a profit of $3.52

Current record: 4-3

Current Money Total (Based on $5 bets) – We are up $1.10 on the season
