The Penguins started strong but couldn’t overcome special-teams struggles as the New York Rangers took control on the power play and rolled to a 6–1 victory on Thursday night.

After an even opening stretch, Sam Carrick and Mika Zibanejad connected at 7:40 of the first period with a shorthanded goal. Despite trailing, Pittsburgh showed early energy, outshooting New York 9–4 in the first period, but couldn’t capitalize on their chances.

Early in the second, Ben Kindel evened the score with his first NHL goal, finishing off a clean transition through the neutral zone. The tie was short-lived, however — Adam Fox restored the Rangers’ lead just four minutes later with his first of the night at 6:06.

New York’s special teams then took over, striking twice on the power play. Will Cuylle and Fox each found the net as the Rangers built a commanding 4–1 advantage heading into the final period.

The Penguins unraveled further in the third. Adam Edström fired a puck toward the net that deflected off Matt Rempe and in to make it 5–1. Taylor Raddysh capped the scoring with six minutes left, sealing a dominant 6–1 win for New York.

After managing just four shots in the first period, the Rangers erupted for 26 shots over the final 40 minutes, while holding Pittsburgh to just 10 during that span.

Rangers will play again Sunday night vs Washington at the Garden 7pm

LETS GO RANGERS!
