Rangers vs Red Wings
- Rangers are coming off a 2-1 shootout victory
- The Blueshirts lone goal came from Mika Zibanejad
- In the shootout, the Rangers got goals from Vincent Trocheck and J.T. Miller
- Igor Shesterkin made 24 saves on 25 shots. Expect Jonathan Quick to start for the Rangers on Sunday night. Quick has already beat Detroit once this season
- The Blueshirts will turn their attention to the Detroit Red Wings who have just one fewer point
- Ninth to 23rd in the league are separated in the standings by just two points
- New York returns home after a quick two-game road trip
- In the first meeting this season on November 7th, the Blueshirts defeated the Red Wings 4-1 in Detroit
- The Rangers got goals from Will Cuylle, Noah Laba, Artemi Panarin, and Alexis Lafreniere
- The Rangers will be looking for their second home win of the season as they look to extend their winning streak to four
- The Red Wings are also playing the second of a back-to-back. Detroit were defeated on Saturday night on home ice in overtime to the Buffalo Sabres
- John Gibson made the start on Saturday, so expect Cam Talbot to get the starting nod against his former team
- Talbot allowed four goals against the Rangers just over a week ago
- The key for the Rangers will be slowing down the Red Wings top line consisting of Dylan Larkin, Alex DeBrincat, and Lucas Raymond
- Larkin has eleven goals and eleven assists in 18 games
- DeBrincat has eight goals and twelve assists in 18 games
- Raymond has four goals and fourteen assists in 16 games
- Mortiz Seider is next on the team with ten points, but former Ranger Patrick Kane has eight points in nine games
- New York has made an interesting transaction on Sunday morning. Gabe Perreault who was skating on the top line was sent down to Hartford and recalled was defender Scott Morrow.
- This could very well be insurance for Will Borgen who saw his 285 consecutive game streak broken on Saturday. If Borgen can’t go, Morrow would be insurance and could even be slotted in for his NHL debut. Borgen is day-to-day
- Perreault’s ice time was down on Saturday to less than 13 minutes and he is waiver exempt
- Juuso Parssinen or Jonny Brodzinski will join the lineup
