Rangers dropped their third straight game in Boston last night, 4-0.
Alexander Georgiev has been inconsistent for the past month and it continued in Boston. He should have been pulled after the power-play goal in the early half of the second.
Jacob Trouba talked about being smoked last night.
“I don’t think it spiraled out of control on us,” Trouba said. “Obviously, we had some breakdowns that led to more goals, but I don’t think our effort totally fell off a cliff.”
Trouba was traded for Neil Pionk two summers ago. Trouba has not scored yet this season and only has four points??? Poink accumulated 3 goals and 22 points !!!!
Trouba is coming off a recent injury but his lack of production is to blame for the Rangers‘ inconsistencies with Georgiev.
Panarin needed to practice a few days before entering the lineup. Don’t blame Quinn for Panarin not playing last night. Blame Quinn for not pulling his goalie earlier and his lack of urgency for his timeout.
Bottom-line Quinn needs to step up. I don’t think he gets fired in the season because of the division the team plays in and the adversity the team has had to deal with COVID, DeAngelo situation, Panarin situation, and players not performing due to injuries.
It’s fair for every fan to express doubts about Quinn’s future as head coach. This game is another chapter in favor of firing him at the season’s end. Remember John Davidson did not hire Quinn, he was hired by Sather and Gorton in Spring of 2018. Davidson makes the shots and will move on if he thinks he needs a new leader.
Quinn can save his job by winning. Rangers need Panarin and Shesterkin back on Saturday. They are nine points behind Boston for the last playoff spot.
Blueshirts play a Saturday matinee with Boston on MSG.
