Shesterkin was brilliant with 31 saves and his third consecutive win for the season. His glove side save (below) in the first minute against Ovechkin set the tone for the game.

The young goaltender made many more saves and said this was his best game of the season so far.

“Ovechkin is a great hockey player and a tried to play situational on that save,” Shesterkin said. “It did help my confidence the rest of the game.”

Shesterkin said he did not change anything since the beginning of the year and wants to move forward.

The game’s first star Ryan Strome scored twice and tied a career game-high with two goals. He has a four-game point streak (3 goals and 2 assists).

Drury Promotion

On Friday afternoon, New York promoted Chris Drury to Associate General Manager from Assistant for the past six years. Drury was a candidate for Pittsburgh’s General Manager but chose to take his name off the list.
