Trade:

Rangers acquire Patrick Kane

Blackhawks acquire a conditional second-round pick (becomes a first if the Rangers make it to the ECF), and a fourth-round pick. Blackhawks retain 50% of Kane’s contract

Coyotes acquire a third-round pick for retaining 25% of Kane’s contract

  • Kane is expected to play on a line with Artemi Panarin and Vincent Trocheck to start. He is also expected to play the right side on the Rangers top power-play unit. With that change, expect Vladimir Tarasenko to move to the second unit
  • Kane has 1,225 points in 1,161 career games. He also has 132 points in 136 playoff games

Rangers vs Flyers

  • Kane won’t debut in Philadelphia according to head coach Gerard Gallant and general manager Chris Drury. Kane is expected to make his debut in New York on Thursday against Ottawa
  • K’Andre Miller was suspended for three games following his accidental spitting on Drew Doughty. Miller later apologized to Doughty and had a conversation with him after the game that allegedly went well
  • Ryan Lindgren’s status is currently unknown for the Blueshirts – keep an eye on the pregame skate for his status. Lindgren is currently listed as day-to-day. If Lindgren doesn’t play, the Rangers will play with eleven forwards and five defensemen. Currently, the Blueshirts don’t have any extra players due to cap constraints from the Kane deal
  • The Flyers are dealing with a lot of injuries which is tough for a rebuilding team. Players include Ryan Ellis, Sean Couturier, Travis Konecny, and Cam Atkinson. None of which are expected to be available on Wednesday night
  • Konecny currently leads the Flyers in points with 54 points in 52 games
  • Former Ranger Kevin Hayes currently has 48 points in 60 games. Hayes’ name has been rumored to possibly be available for trade
  • Leading the Blueshirts in points is Artemi Panarin with 67 points in 60 games. Panarin’s best friend Tarasenko joined the team and now the Rangers added his other good friend Kane. Many are expecting big things from Panarin and his two friends come playoff time
  • Braden Schneider is expected to play a big role after not touching the ice in the previous game. Schneider was protected so he didn’t get injured and could go to the AHL to acquire the necessary cap space to fit Kane
  • Igor Shesterkin is expected to start in goal for the Rangers. Shesterkin is coming off an impressive showing against the Kings. Shesterkin will face off against Carter Hart for Philadelphia
