Rangers defeat New Jersey 3-0 last night. Igor Shesterkin recorded his first career shutout.

“He’s a great goalie and he keeps being great when we need him,” Panarin said. “We need him, and I congratulate him with his first shutout.”

Mika Zibanejad scored on a break away that opened the scoring.

Rangers finally padded their lead with a wrist shot by Artemi Panarin from left circle. Panarin’s 138 points in his first 100 games with the Rangers broke Mark Messier’s record of 137 (45 goals, 92 assists).

“I knew I played my 100th game, but I didn’t think about the points,” Panarin said. “I always try to play 100 percent. I’m very thankful for my partners who helped me get to this point.”

Buchnevich put the game away with his empty net goal.

Blueshirts host New Jersey tomorrow night.
